I was watching Firefly today and the Serenity crew was on another of their illegal jobs. Towards the end of the mission, Jayne who is alone with his crew members Simon and River, turns the two fugitives in to the authorities for what he believes will be a fat reward. When Captain Mal's ingenious plan finally saves the day and the lives of his crew, he and Jayne find themselves in a heated argument over Simon and River. Jayne asks why the captain is so upset. After all, it's not like he betrayed him.
"That's exactly what you did," Mal replies.
Yeah, it's just a TV show, but it reminds me of God's protection. Sometimes we are hurt, betrayed--even by other Christians. Just like Mal felt betrayed when two of his crew were stabbed in the back, God takes the betrayal of his children very personally. So watch what you do. Watch what you say. Stabbing each other in the back is no less than betraying almighty God.
I feel like such a nerd.
